Tallahassee Regional Airport Code

Tallahassee Regional Airport was established in 1929 and began operations as a commercial service airport in 1932. It was initially owned by the county, but was taken over by the city in 1934. The airport has undergone several expansions throughout its history, most notably in 1948 when the main runway was extended to 5,000 feet. In 1953, the current terminal building was constructed and a second runway added. Over the years, the airport has seen an increase in passenger traffic due to its close proximity to state government offices and Florida State University. In 1995, a major renovation project began that included a new terminal building with additional gates and expanded concourses. The project also included construction of a new control tower and air traffic control tower complex as well as improvements to existing runways and taxiways. The renovation project was completed in 1997 and since then Tallahassee Regional Airport has become one of Florida’s busiest airports with more than 1 million passengers per year. Today, Tallahassee Regional Airport is served by seven commercial airlines offering non-stop service to more than 30 destinations across North America and beyond. The airport is also home to several aviation-related businesses including aircraft maintenance facilities and flight schools.
